The 5th AIDS Forum of Beijing, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan (the Forum) was successfully held at the GIS NTU Convention Center in Taipei City on 12-13 April, 2019. The Hong Kong AIDS Foundation was proud to be invited to co-organize and co-host the Forum in collaboration with the Taiwan Lourdes Association. The theme of the Forum was “Diversified Prevention Programmes and Trainings”.

Mrs. Margaret Leung, a member of the Executive Board and Chairperson of the Education Committee, Ms. Yu Po-chu, Pansy, a member of the Executive Board, Ms. Eris Lau, Chief Executive and Mr. Johnny Li, Deputy Director of Programmes of the Hong Kong AIDS Foundation, all participated in the Forum. It was our great pleasure to share our work experiences with parties from the medical and scientific communities, as well as non-government sectors from Beijing, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan. In addition, Professor Chen Zhiwei, Director of the AIDS Institute and Professor of Department of Microbiology of The University of Hong Kong, and Mr. Yuzuru Ikushima, Director of PLACE TOYKO, were invited to participate in the Forum as honorable speakers to share their valuable insights, experiences and new findings on HIV treatment as well as patient services.

The aim of the Forum was to promote the goal of reinforcing the UNAIDS 90-90-90 targets for 2020 which includes these three elements: 90% of people living with HIV know their status; of whom 90% are on treatment; of whom 90% are virally suppressed. Most importantly, we strongly called upon the world to implement the “fourth 90’ which has the aim to ensure 90% of people with a suppressed viral load have a good quality of life and are living with dignity, in a bid to remove discrimination from their lives.

More photos from the Forum will be shared with you all soon, so stay tuned!
