Today (17 May) is the International Day against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia (IDAHOT). While it is a day of celebration of the vast diversity of people’s sexualities, gender identities and sex characteristics, and of the legal and social advances concerning lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and intersex (LGBTI) people, it is also a day to raise awareness on the existing widespread discrimination and violence in many countries.
The Hong Kong AIDS Foundation wants to bring out the message of equal opportunities for people of different sexual orientations and transgendered persons. The idea that everyone should enjoy equal rights and liberty is a fundamental notion behind the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the Hong Kong Bill of Rights Ordinance. Let us join hands to create a zero discrimination world together!
