There is good news for 37 million people worldwide living with HIV. According to the latest research report, British scientists have announced that a man known as “London patient” has become the second known HIV-positive adult to be cleared of the virus that causes the disease AIDS after a stem cell transplant. And there is still no trace of the virus in the “London patient” after 18 months off the drugs.
We are very happy to hear this exciting news as with these patients’ success stories, we may, in the near future, see that HIV/AIDS can be a curable disease. That said, still, prevention is better than cure. We hope to remind everyone of the importance of safe sex and encourage everyone to take HIV tests as part of a regular medical check-up to prevent HIV infection.
