To curb the spread of HIV/AIDS, the involvement and participation of the community is vital. Every year, the Foundation launches a number of territory-wide publicity and fundraising events, aiming to mobilise public participation, promote awareness of HIV/AIDS and raise funds for AIDS education and services. In addition, the Foundation makes use of regular media interviews to increase public understanding of HIV/AIDS and PLHIV, with a view to building a harmonious community.
World AIDS Campaign
Each year, the Foundation organises different community events to echo global efforts to stop HIV/AIDS on World AIDS Day. In 2013, the Foundation launched a community event in Causeway Bay, Mongkok and Tsimshatsui, with a view to raising public awareness of HIV/AIDS through activities like educational games, photo-shooting and distribution of red ribbons. During October and December of 2012, the Foundation organised the “Love Cake Campaign”, using the art of cupcake to promote support for people living with HIV (PLHIV) and to raise fund for implementing AIDS prevention education and providing services for those affected.
Working with the Media
The Foundation has been working closely with the media like televisions, newspapers, journals and radios, to spread messages on HIV prevention, publicise its services, and express its views on the problem of AIDS from the social, economic and other perspectives.
