On 1 December “World AIDS Day”, we organised a community event at Central Star Ferry Pier (#8) to raise public awareness of HIV/AIDS and to remember those who have died of AIDS. Before the show and candlelight ceremony to mourn the lives lost, we featured a variety of game booths and education panels for the public to learn more about sex education and HIV/AIDS issues.
We were delighted to have the popular singer Siu Hau to be our guest at the event and perform for us. She also kindly participated in an HIV antibody test in a bid to call upon members of the public to undertake an HIV test at least once a year as part of a regular health check-up.
In addition to Siu Hau, the Foundation’s Chairman Dr. Leong Che Hung also kicked off our 2018 TV advertising campaign themed “No misconceptions. No discrimination. This is what LOVE is” along with members of the Executive Board and our Chief Executive, Eris Lau. The main point of our new campaign is to help audiences understand that people living with HIV are still able to have intimate relationships with their partners as long as their own “Undetectable = Untransmittable” level can be reached with HAART treatment and good drug compliance.
We will be holding another fabulous event to commemorate “World AIDS Day” next year so hope to see you all again on December 1, 2019!
