Voluntary HIV Counselling and Testing (VCT) Service

if you want to be known about your HIV status, you may consider using our voluntary HIV counselling and testing (VCT) service. The Foundation is providing free, anonymous and confidential tests as below:

-Pre and post-test counselling service will be provided by professional trained staff or volunteer

-Blood drop will be taken from finger tip;

-Result will be available within 15 minutes;

If the result shows positive, conventional test will be arranged for confirmation;

Blood sample taken will be sent to the government laboratory for testing and the result will be available at around 7 working days.

REMARK: Under the red ribbon center

Biotin, also known as Vitamin H, Vitamin B7, Coenzyme R, etc., is commonly used in nutritional supplements to improve hair, skin and nails. Taking high doses (10mg or more per day) of biotin may affect HIV test results (e.g. false negatives for HIV antibody and antigen tests). Those who are taking biotin should stop taking the supplements for 48 hours before the test. Please note that the amount of biotin contained in normal food intake is not enough to affect the test results.

If the No.8 signal or above/ Black Rainstorm Warning Signal remains in force or is issued at 11:00 a.m. or at a later time, all testing service will be cancelled. Please call our AIDS Helpline at 2513-0513 to make appointment again.

If the No.8 signal or above/ Black Rainstorm Warning Signal is cancelled before 11:00 a.m., all testing service will remain available.

If No.8 signal is issued during service hours, all testing service will be cancelled.

Support services for people living with HIV (PLHIV) and affected by HIV (family members and partners)

For people living with HIV (PLHIV), there are various issues they have to face including medical treatment, employment, disclosure of HIV status, relationships and emotional support. The Foundation provides the following services to help them cope with the influences.

Services Content
Counselling service Counselling service for PLHIV, couples and family members on a confidential and friendly basis, helping them solve their problems and worries. Also providing emotional and psychological support through peer volunteer.
Mutual support groups Set up regular gatherings and workshops, providing a platform for PLHIV to share their concerns with others who are in similar situations and encouraging mutual support.
Capacity building training Organise training workshop and seminar for PLHIV to learn different skills and enhance their ability in problem solving.
Visiting and escort service Visits and escorts to PLHIV at home or hospital, giving them support and care.
Financial or resources support service Immediate assistance for PLHIV with urgent needs through PWA Support Fund and Resources Corner.
Empowerment training programme for PLHIV volunteers Training PLHIV to work with staff and other volunteers to organise various AIDS preventive education programmes for the general public and the most as risk population , also provide support services for other PLHIV.
Peer volunteers Training PLHIV volunteers to provide support services for other PLHIV, encouraging mutual support.
Referral service For PLHIV with the need to consult a specialist such as lawyer, insurance consultant or doctor.
