The 7th AIDS Forum
of Beijing, Hong Kong, Macau & Taiwan
Together, we create a stigma-free world
The 7th AIDS Forum of Hong Kong, Beijing, Macau & Taiwan is slated to be held in Hong Kong on December 4 – 5, 2023 (“the 7th Forum”). The Forum has been co-hosted by four prominent and leading HIV/AIDS-related NGO every two years in various hosting cities since 2010.
This year, the Forum will be hosted by the Hong Kong AIDS Foundation along with substantial support from counterparts from the Mainland, Macau and Taiwan. Over 100 experts from the National STD AIDS Center, NGO representatives as well as leading minds in AIDS prevention and control, not only from the Mainland but across other Asian regions, will participate through sharing their latest findings and unique experiences.
The main purpose of the Forum is most importantly to enhance deeper cooperation between non-governmental organizations located in Hong Kong, the Mainland, Macau and Taiwan with these objectives:
— to strengthen the work relationships and interactions between various countries’/regions’ HIV/AIDS related medical institutions, Centres for Disease Control and Prevention, NGOs and other social workers to foster better prevention strategies and improve the quality of life of people living with HIV;
— to improve the service capabilities of non-governmental organisations (“NGOs”) in terms of patient service, HIV/sexual health prevention education, relationships with governmental officials and the delivery of advocacy; and
– to re-tune world’s FOCUS on HIV/AIDS issues in the post-COVID-19 period.
Back to the specific theme of the 7th Forum this year, apart from the ideas generated from the above-mentioned objectives, we will attempt to focus on patient treatment which echoes UNAIDS’ current target to be achieved by 2025 that 95% of people with HIV who know their status will be on treatment and 95% of people with HIV on treatment will be virally suppressed. In addition, the enhanced level of quality of life of people living with HIV and people at risk through the support of person-centered approaches with the implementation of tele-health technology will be another focus.
By and large, through the high-profile presentation of (1.) the latest advances in antiretroviral therapy, (2.) the current status of vaccine development to cure HIV, coupled with (3.) yet-to-be-exposed insights into future service designs for the latest psychological and medical support for HIV patients between researchers, medical elites and NGO institutions, we aim to join hands with YOU all to re-boost the NOTION of:
Early realization of “zero new HIV infections, zero AIDS-related deaths and zero HIV-related stigma and discrimination by 2030” through the Forum particularly after the end of COVID pandemic.
